The Miller’s Tale was written Geoffrey Chaucer; First, I want to introduce Geoffrey Chaucer. He is the author of The Canterbury Tales, which turn one of the greatest tale works of world literature, but it was left unfinished when he died. He was born in London. His works show that he can read French and Italian. He was buried in Westminster Abbey, which eventually called Poet’s Corner.
I chose The Miller’s Tale because beside of it’s funny features, it shows reality of the story in real life. This tale made me interested to read more tales of Chaucer, because it is not boring to read unlike other tales. This tale also gives us lessons. Don’t marry a person who is younger than you, because they might become unfaithful to you. Also don’t marry a person if you know that you can’t give what they need, not only financially but also the love that they need from you, for them not to find other men/women.
This tale is about an old man named John, oxford student named Nicholas, the clerk named absalon and the woman they love named Alisoun. Alisoun became unfaithful wife to John when Nicholas start flirting her by saying sweet words. After that, Alisoun allow Nicholas to sleep with her. Alisoun is worried that John will discover that they are planning to sleep together. So Nicholas planned to make a trick to John, so that he can’t find out what they are planning to do. He tells John that there will be a great flood on Monday twice as Noah’s. John believed him, Nicholas instructs john to make three boats. Monday night John sleeps at the hanging boat. Alisoun and Nicholas climb down and sleep together at John’s bed. Absalon overlook, hoping for a kiss from Alisoun, so he call Alisoun. Alisoun firmly tell Absalon that she loves another. She offered Absalon a quick kiss. Absalon noticed that it was not Alisoun’s lips but an arse. So he planned a revenge. He go to town to buy red-hot iron poker. He asked again Alisoun to give her a kiss, Alisoun agree, but this time it will be Nicholas who’s going to let Absalalon kiss his arse, but he fart so loud infront of Absalon’s face , so Absalon brands red-hot poker on Nicholas’ butt.then he shouted “HELP!WATERWATER!”. When John heard Nicholas’voice, he thought that it means that the flood is coming, so he cut the rope to release the boat, then the boat fell down and crashed, john’s arm broke. The towns people laugh at him.
Insights of the tale are required, not the retelling of it.
